CAKE self-released their debut single called “Rock ‘n’ Roll Lifestyle” in 1993. The song took the 31st spot of the US Modern Rock Charts. After the single became a moderate hit, CAKE launched their debut album called “Motorcade of Generosity.” Their music was discovered by Capricorn Records. They eventually signed a contract with Capricorn Records and released CAKE’s first album nationally. Frank French and Gabe Nelson left the band after the deal.

The 4th full-length album of the band entitled Comfort Eagle was released in 2001. This was their first album under Columbia Records. As soon as their carrier single “Short Skirt/Long Jacket” played on the radio, it immediately became a hit on alternative stations. During its first week, the lead single already took the 7th spot on U.S Modern Rock Charts.

Recently, CAKE announced that they will make two new albums including their first live album entitled Live at the Crystal Palace and a new studio album. The two albums were supposed to be launched in the fall of 2008, but now have announced that the albums would be launched early in 2009. John McCrea is excited about their new projects.
