Buy Counting Crows Tickets Starting out in Berkeley, California, the Counting Crows have become a staple modern rock band of the USA. Their first album, which was released in 1993 was called August and Everything After. This album included the ever popular single “Mr. Jones”, and skyrocketed them into popularity with their R.E.M. and Van Morrison inspired music.
After they gained initial fame, the Counting Crows focused mainly on touring and playing live gigs, but after a couple of years, there to -
be exact, they released their second album entitled Recovering the Satellites. This album featured a heavier undertone due to the addition of a second guitarist named Dan Vickrey.
Two years later came This Desert Life, their third album, which featured songs like "Hanginaround" and "Colorblind". Three years after that came Hard Candy, which is most notably famous for having "Accidentally In Love" on it. The song was featured in Shrek 2, which was a widely popular computer animated feature film. The appearance of this song gained the Counting Crows a ton of popularity , and the song was eventually nominated for an Academy Award in 2004. In the middle of the tour for Hard Candy, their drummer, Ben Mize, left the band in order to spend more time with his family and go after his personal musical goals.
The Counting Crow's latest album was released in late March, but has yet to make a splash in the charts. It has two themed sides to it. One side is a rock side, and the other is a country/acoustic side. The album is entitled Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings, and goes along with the two separate themes very well. Rock is for when you sin on Saturday night, which is normally very loud and angry, and Sunday morning is when you are solemn and regret you sins from the previous night.
