    Kings of Leon was formed in Tennessee in 2000. Kings of Leon is made up of three brothers including Nathan (on drums), Jared (on bass guitar as well as backup vocals), and Caleb (the lead vocals and plays the rhythm guitar). They also have their cousin, Matthew Followill as well. He plays the lead guitar and does backup vocals at the same time.

    The band was actually named after the father and the grandfather of the Followill brothers. Both men are considered the bands biggest influences in life.


  • In 2003 their EP Holy Roller Novocaine was released. There were only five songs included in this EP and four were later used for the debut album called Youth and Young Manhood. Their debut album became very successful especially outside United States. Their talent was noticed by the other famous bands such as U2 and The Strokes. As a result, they were invited to be a part of the bands’ tour which gave a kick in their career.

    In October 2004, their second album was launched in UK called Aha Shake Heartbreak. Just a year after, the album was released in the United States. Three singles from the album were released including Four Kicks, The Bucket, and King of the Rodeo. The Bucket became part of the Britain Top 20 in 2005. Two years after, a song from the Aha Shake Heartbreak entitled Taper Jean Girl, was used in the movie Disturbia.

    Before the end of 2006, Kings of Leon were already working in a new project, their third album. They released the Because of the Times album in April 2007 in the UK and then later distributed copies in United States.
