Buy Motley Crue Tickets In 1981, another American band from California was formed. Motley Crue is an all-male group which plays rock and heavy metal songs. There were four original members of the band including Vince Neil on vocals, Mick Mars on guitar, Tommy Lee on drums, and Nikki Sixx on bass guitar. It was Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx who formed the band, although Sixx was still playing for another band called London during that time.

The name Motley Crue actually came from the words “motley looking crew.” It was Mick Mars’ idea to slightly modify the spelling which later turned into the band’s current name.
Their debut album entitled Too Fast for Love was released in 1981. After selling more than 20,000 copies and several negotiations, Motley Crue was able to get a deal with Elektra Records in 1982.
Motley Crue reached the height of their fame in 1984. Aside from their negative publicity such as alcohol and drug abuse issues, one of the things that contributed to their success was the birth of MTV. Aside from that, the group also made themselves known in the music industry by wearing heavy makeup, outrageous clothes, and even high-heeled boots. Because of the glam rock that they portray, many of their albums during the 1980’s became hit including Theatre of Pain, Shout at the Devil, and Girls, Girls, Girls.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go smooth between Tommy Lee and Vince Neil. Motley Crue disbanded in 1999 when Tommy Lee pursued a solo career instead. In 2004 the members announced that they would have a reunion tour which started in February 2005.
In 2005, Motley Crue released their compilation album entitled Red, White, and Crue which included their favorite songs along with new tracks such as Sick Love Song and If I Die Tomorrow.
