    The hard rock group Poison, is a band that has been around since the early 1980s. Originally known as Paris, the group moved to California to start playing gigs and in hopes of being signed to a record deal. In 1986, the group signed with Enigma Records, and they recorded and released an album called “Look What the Cat Dragged in.” The album would go double platinum.

    Their second album, Open Up and Say… Ahh! was released two years later in 1988, and it

  • would also go multi-platinum. “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn” was a single from that album and continues to be a classic. Other successful singles from the album include “Fallen Angel” “Nothing But a Good Time” and “Your Mama Don’t Dance.” The 1980s would prove to be a great time commercially for the band and they were one of the best hard rock groups in terms of albums sold during that decade.

    Flesh and Blood was released to the public in 1990 and also was very successful. Three singles from that album would perform exceptionally well. They were “Something to Believe,” “Unskinny Bop” and “Ride the Wind”.

    In the 1990s, the band began to have some internal problems. DeVille began to develop alcohol and cocaine addictions, which caused fights within the band. One even turned physical at the MTV Video Music Award. DeVille was dismissed from the band and would later be replaced by Richie Kotzen. He would later rejoin the band in the late 1990’s.

    In 2006, the group would reunite and tour to celebrate their 20th anniversary. It was called 20 Years of Rock. It would be a very successful tour. They also released an album that same year to commemorate 20 years together. It was called The Best of Poison: 20 Years of Rock. In 2007 member, Bret Michaels would star in his own reality TV show, called Rock of Love, of where he attempted to find love.
