The group’s debut album was released in 1974 and it was titled Rush. It was recognized for its’ complexity, high level of instrumentation and interesting subject matters. The band used a mixture of fantasy, philosophy and science fiction as inspiration for their songs. Starting out, the band was heavily influenced by blues and heavy metal rock but over time, dabbled in hard rock, heavy uses of synthesizers and then modern rock.
