    A nine time Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter, Sheryl Suzanne Crow was born on February 11, 1962 to Wendell and Bernice Crow. Both of her parents were musicians, her father playing the trumpet, and mother being a piano teacher. Sheryl was a majorette at her high school, and received a BA degree in Music Composition, Performance and Education from the University of Missouri. During college, she also sang in Cashmere, a local band, and was a member of a women’s music fraternity called Sigma Alpha Iota.

  • After college, Sheryl became a music teacher at Kellison Elementary School in Fenton, Missouri. During this time, she met Jay Oliver, who had a production studio in his parents' basement. He set her up with gigs for jingles to be used in commercials, which eventually landed her jingles for McDonald's and Toyota.

    Crow first toured with Michael JAckson on his BAD tour, and sang "I Just Can't Stop Lovin' You" with him. Her first album, which was produced by the same producer Phil Collins used, was rejected by her label. It is now a popular commodity among illegal file sharing networks. Her first album that was released was actually produced along with her current boyfriend, and several other singer/songwriters, This was entitled "Tuesday Night Music Club", because they all came together every Tuesday night to work on it.

    Her big break was definitely when she made it onto Rolling Stone's "New Faces" in 1993. The appearance propelled her into the spotlight, and gained her enough attention to allow "All I Wanna Do" to become an unexpected, but welcomed smash hit in the spring of 1994. That year, she won several Grammy awards, one which was for the afore mentioned song.

    After that, her career skyrocketed, and she produced many popular albums, and was nominated for, and won many awards for several songs and albums.
