    Another alternative rock band was formed in California in 1992. The band called Weezer also plays geek rock as well as power pop. The original members of the band include Rivers Cuomo (the band’s lead vocals and a guitar player), Patrick Wilson (on drums and backup vocals), Matt Sharp (on vocals and bass) and of course, Jason Cropper (on backup vocals and guitar). Matt Sharp and Jason Cropper were replaced by Brian Bell and Mickey Welsh. Eventually, Mickey Welsh left the band and he was replaced by Scott Shriner.

  • Weezer’s self-titled debut album was released in 1994. This includes their first single called Undone-The Sweater Song. Spike Jonze directed the music video for the said single which eventually became a hit in MTV.

    After taking a break in December 1994, Weezer immediately got back to work in 1995 and released their second album in 1996 entitled Pinkerton. They released three singles from the album namely Pink Triangle, El Scorcho, and The Good Life. The band thought that they had made a great album, the reader poll from the Rolling Stones said otherwise. As a matter of fact, the Pinkerton was considered as one of the worst albums released in 1996.

    In 2002, the band made an experiment which required the help of their fans. On their official website, they uploaded their demo songs and let the fans download it for free. In return, the fans must give feedback about the demos. Unfortunately, the fans did not give constructive advices and they only liked the funny songs that the band made.
