Arizona Diamondbacks Tickets
The Arizona Diamondbacks are a professional major league baseball team, that play in Phoenix, Arizona. The team is fairly new being established in 1998. They compete in the National League West division. The Arizona Diamondbacks came fast out of the gates, and were very successful early on, even as an expansion franchise. Early on they were led by two outstanding pitchers. In fact, these two guys were probably two of the best pitchers in the game during that time. They were Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson.

In 2001 they faced the St. Louis Cardinals, which they beat 3 games to 2. Next they had to get past the Atlanta Braves in order to compete in the World Series. They beat the Braves 4-1. They then faced the storied Yankees who won the World Series championship the previous year. They defeated the Yankees in seven game, thus becoming the youngest expansion franchise to take home the world championship. The Diamondbacks world championship win, was the first professional championship for the entire State of Arizona.
The following year, while not having quite the success, they had in 2001, they did win the National League West. The Cardinals beat them in the second round. With all of great success of 2001-2002, 2004 was a very disappointing year for the Diamondbacks. They only won 51 games, which were the fewest amount of wins for any team in major-league baseball in 2004. Randy Johnson was still on the team but Curt schilling had been sent to the Boston Red Sox, a club who would win the World Series that year.
The year 2007, saw some changes in hopes of regaining the teams’ winning ways. Uniforms were changed, as were some of the team’s personnel. Louis Gonzalez left to play for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was a very popular player. Greg Console agreed to play with the Milwaukee Brewers. Miguel Messila signed a contract with the Mariners and failed to come back. Jay Vail who was a coach and player for the team throughout his career, stepped down as a bench coach. However, he did remain with the organization in some capacity. The team did fairly well that year, winning 90 games and losing 72. The 2007 postseason was very successful. The Diamondbacks won the National League West title, they went on to win the National League Division Series against Chicago, securing a spot in the National League championship series. In the next round of the playoffs, however, they were swept by the Colorado Rockies.
