Indianapolis Colts Tickets
The Indianapolis Colts are based in Indianapolis, Indiana and are part of the South division of the AFC. Originally from Baltimore, they moved to Indianapolis in 1984 and have won two Super Bowl championship titles, the last against the Chicago Bears in 2006's Super Bowl XLI.
The team was founded in 1953, when Carl Rosenbloom applied and received a Baltimore franchise, originally the Baltimore Colts. The Indianapolis Colts have been very successful -
and can boast of being the holders of five league championships, three NFC championships in 1958, 1959 in 1968, and of course their two Super Bowl championships. They also have won six conference championships in the NFL Western division and two in the AFC.
In 2008, the team is planning a move to a new home stadium, the Lucas Oil Stadium. This brand-new stadium design began in 2004 and has an estimated cost of $675 million dollars with $102 million of that being paid by Lucas oil products in order to retain the naming rights of the stadium for the next 20 years. The brand-new stadium will have a retractable roof, will be 1.8 million ft.² , can seat 63,000 for football, and can also be reconfigured for basketball and concerts.
The team’s uniform design has basically stayed the same since 1953. The colors, blue, white and gray alongside the horseshoe emblem have been mainstays of the franchise’s uniforms.
The most notable owner of the Indianapolis Colts franchise is Robert Irsay, who purchased the team in 1972 from Rosenbloom. The Irsray family still owns the Colts today. Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungey has spoken on more then one occasion about how great a owner Irsay is.
The team is led by perennial pro-bowlers Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison as well as well-respected coach Tony Dungey. For Peyton Manning, NFL football is a family affair. His father Archie Manning, was a former quarterback and his little brother Eli Manning won his first Super Bowl with the New York Giants in 2007.
