Kansas City Chiefs Tickets
The Kansas City Chiefs were originally known as the Dallas Texans. By 1963 they were the Kansas City Chiefs and based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs are a member of the Western division of the AFC.
Since 1963, the Kansas City Chiefs have been winners of three league championships, three AFL championships, seven division championships, and one Super Bowl, Super Bowl IV. -
The team first began playing their home games at the Municipal Stadium from 1963 through 1971. They would later move to Arrowhead Stadium in 1972. This has been the team’s stadium since that time.
Thirteen Pro Football Hall of Fame members have played for the Kansas City Chiefs, including Buck Buchanan, who played from 1963 to 1975 as a defensive tackle. Lamar Hunt, founder of the franchise and the AFL, and quarterback Warren Moon. The latest inductee was Emmitt Thomas in 2008. He played cornerback from 1966 through 1978 with the team.
Head coach Hank Stram, coached the team from 1959 when they were the Dallas Texans and continued with the team when they moved to Kansas City and stayed on board until 1974. During this time, they posted 124 game wins, 76 losses and 10 ties. Throughout his years of coaching, Stram helped the team win three championships.
In 2006, Herman Edwards took over as the team’s head coach. In his short tenure he has posted 13 wins and 19 losses. The team made it to the playoffs his first year, where they lost to the Indianapolis Colts in the wild-card round.
The Chiefs are one of the few teams who have kept their basic design the same through out their existence, including the Dallas Texans era. The red helmet, red or white jerseys with pants trimmed in yellow has been a staple for well over 30 years. The one item added and considered permanent as of 2008, is the Memorial patch for Lamar Hunt, who passed away in 2006. Considered a sign of respect and loyalty to the man's dedication to football, the patch is worn over the heart on the jersey, as a reminder of Hunt's 46 years of service to the AFL and the NFL.
