Los Angeles Angels Tickets
The Los Angeles Angels are a professional baseball team and a member of the Major Baseball League. The franchise was founded in 1961 and has been in Anaheim, California since 1966. The team is part of the American League and they compete in the Western division. The Los Angeles Angels joined the league as an expansion franchise.
Throughout the team's tenure, there have had a number of different names. In 1965 they were called the California Angels. In 1997 the -
team became the Anaheim Angels. However, when Art Moreno bought the team in 2005, he chose to rename the team the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
During the 1970s, the Angels got to enjoy the play of pitcher Nolan Ryan, who pitched four no-hitters and also held a few records for strikeouts. In 1973, he racked up 383 strikeouts, a record that still stands today. The 1980s proved to be frustrating years for the Angels’ franchise and for their fans as is seemed that they could never get over the hump. They also had their share of tragedy. Pitcher, Donnie Moore, who had already battled with the Depression and who also was blamed for the Angels losing the Pennant committed suicide about three years after that game. Another player, Lyman Bostic was killed in 1978. He was shot while visiting Gary, Indiana .
In 2002, the Angels celebrated their first ever World Series championship. Mike Scioscia was the manager of that club and lead the team to 99 wins. They were able to capture the wild card birth from the American League. They finished second in their division. To get to the World Series, the Angels had to beat the New York Yankees and the Minnesota Twins. The World Series had them pitted against the San Francisco Giants, who were led by Barry Bonds and was a high-scoring affair with The Angels eventually taking home the championship. Troy Glaus, the third basemen for the Angels, was named the MVP for the World Series.
