The Brewers enjoyed their best years between 1978 and 1983. In 1978, the team won 93 games and only finished behind the Boston Red Sox and New York in wins that year. The decade of the 1980s saw the Brewers being the home team for the following MVP’s, Rollie Fingers, Robin Yount in 1982 and 1989. Rollie Fingers, was awarded that honor in 1981. In 2004, the team was sold to Mark Attanasio, an investment banker. That sale was completed 2005. This was great news to the fans who believed Brewers had been suffering from bad management during the previous decade. In 2005, Anatozio’s first-year running the running the team, the team posted a .500 record, winning and losing 81 games. However, it was the first time that the team did not have a losing season in 13 years.
In 2006 hopes where dashed when the team failed to go .500 and instead won only 75 games and suffered 87 losses. This was especially disappointing because the Brewers started the season off hot. In 2007 the team saw a rebound of sorts, they posted their best record since 1992, where they won 83 games and lost 79. There were also some individual honors bestowed on some members of the team. Prince Fielder, who plays first base for the team, came in third in the Nationals League most valuable player race. He even received five first-place votes. Ron Braun, who plays third base, won the National League’s 2007 Rookie of the Year Award.
