Oakland Athletics Tickets
The Oakland Athletics are a professional baseball team, who were established in 1901. They have been in Oakland since 1968. They are a part of the American League and compete in the West division. The Oakland Athletics currently play their home games in McAfee Coliseum. The team's nickname, Athletics is a shortened version of the term “athletic club,” the name has since been shortened and that currently go by Oakland Athletics.
The athletics were one of the original eight -
franchises in the American League. In 1955 they moved to Kansas City, however, they moved back to Oakland in 1968. The team originally started out in Philadelphia. In 2006, the Athletics were able to make the postseason after not having done so the prior two years. With a record of 93 wins and 69 losses, the Athletics were the underdog against the Minnesota Twins in the first round of the postseason. They went on to win and sweep to series, going 3-0. However, in the very next round, they lost every single game in the series, going 0-4 at the hands of the Detroit Tigers.
The following year the team’s success didn't live up to the year prior. In fact, it was pretty disappointing. Some of the team’s main players were injured, including Mike Piazza, Rich Harden, Eric Chavez and Huston Street. 2007 actually was a losing one for the A’s.
The Athletics’ team colors are green, gold and white. The team’s motto is “Not Just Athletes. Athletics." For those interested in listening to the games on local radio, they can do so by tuning into KYCY and KFRC. on television, the local TV station, which broadcast the games, are FSN Bay Area and KICU. The mascot for the team is Stumper. The team holds their Spring Training in Phoenix, Arizona, and they have done so for nearly 30 years.
