The Philadelphia Eagles were established as a franchise in 1933. They joined the NFL as an expansion club. The Eagles currently compete in the NFC East. In the team’s tenure, they have been winners of three NFL championships and they have played in two Super Bowls, the first being in 1980. Philadelphia’s second Super Bowl appearance was in 2004 where Donovan Mcnabb, the team’s quarterback and wide receiver, Terrell Owens were that team’s super stars.

The late 1990’s saw a resurgence of the Philadelphia Eagles franchise. Andy Reid, the coach of the club, drafted quarterback Donovan McNabb in 1999. The team improved under his leadership and made the playoffs the following year. The next four years, they would compete for the right to be conference champs. They would lose three out of those four contests. Finally in 2004, the team would win the conference championship and would advance all the way to the Super Bowl. They would face the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX. It was a hard fought game, however, the Eagles would eventually lose the close game, 24-21. The next year would be a huge disappointment as clashes between teammates and the front office, as well as injuries to key players, would tear the team apart. They went from Super Bowl contenders to not even making the playoffs.
In 2006, the team would rebound somewhat. They put together a string of five wins to capture the NFC and win the division. In 2007, the team hit another slump, this time due to a lack of playmakers and would lose half of their games, finishing 8-8 to miss the playoffs.
