their games on the radio. On August 5, 1921 the team’s game was broadcast on KDKA a.m. in Pittsburgh. They also played the first World Series game at night. This occurred in 1971 at Three Rivers stadium. It was the fourth game in the World Series between themselves and the Baltimore Orioles. They won the game, and then went on to win their fourth World Series in 1971. Also, in that year, the very first lineup that consisted of entirely black players took the field on September 1st. Tragedy struck the club when Roberto Clemente was killed in a plane crash in December of 1972. He was helping to send supplies to help with a relief mission in Nicaragua after an earthquake.
