Pittsburgh Steelers Tickets
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the most successful franchises in the National Football League. Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the team has played in six Super Bowl Championship games and have won five of them. They have won 13 conference championships in there history, more than any other team.
The franchise was founded in 1933 and was named the Steelers in 1940 because of the manufacturing position that Pennsylvania held -
in the steel industry. With team colors of black and gold, they were also known as the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1933 to 1939.
The Steelers played at Forbes Field from 1933 to 1963, moved to Pitt Stadium for five years, before heading to the Three Rivers Stadium in 1970. They played at Three Rivers until the year 2000. They now play their home games at Heinz Field.
Originally owned and founded by Art Rooney Sr., who was inducted into the Hall of Fame and ran the team for 55 years, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been a staple of the National Football League. The team is currently owned by Dan Rooney. Art Rooney II is the team’s president and Mike Tomlin is the Steeler’s head coach.
The team has had had four Super Bowl most valuable players (MVP’s). They include Franco Harris who won in Super Bowl IX, Lynn Swann in Super Bowl X, Terry Bradshaw who won twice in Super Bowl XIII and Super Bowl XVI, and Hines Ward in Super Bowl XL.
