    The Tennessee Titans, were once the Houston Oilers. In 1997 the franchise relocated to Tennessee, became the Tennessee Oilers and then made a permanent name change in 1999 when they became the Tennessee Titans. The team is apart of the Southern division of the American Football Conference and are based in Nashville, Tennessee.

    The team’s name change in 1999, required a new logo, colors and the addition of a flaming “T” which was emblazoned in blue and red.

Kevin Dyson, a Titan player, was tackled while only one yard away from the end zone, preventing him from scoring the team’s winning touch down.

    In 2000 the Titans finished their season with a 13 -3 record and won the AFC title. In 2002, the Titans made it to the AFC championship game, but lost to Oakland, who would go on and play in the Super Bowl. 2003 brought new notoriety with Steve McNair, the team’s quarterback, winning the co-MVP award. The team would again lose the AFC title to the New England Patriots.

    In 2004, the team was injury laden. They finished with a 5-11 record, their second worst season since becoming the Tennessee Titans. In 2005, the team fielded the youngest team in the NFL and only went 4-12. They would finish the 2006 season with an 8-8 record. In 2007, they would post a 10-6 record.
