Texas Rangers Tickets
The Texas Rangers are a professional baseball team. They were established in 1961 and have had their home in Arlington, Texas since 1970. The Rangers are part of Major League Baseball's American League and they are in the Western division. They currently play baseball in Rangers ballpark. The team’s nickname was inspired by a law enforcement agency. The Rangers were originally in Washington DC, in the sixties, and they went by the name Washington Senators. They left in the early 1960s and moved to Minnesota, where they
-
became the Minnesota Twins, in 1972, they made their way to Arlington, Texas and became the Texas Rangers.
The Rangers haven't had a great deal of success. They haven't won any league championships, and they have never played in a World Series game. They did a however, have one of the most celebrated and talented baseball players on their rosters. Alex Rodriguez, left the Seattle Mariners and join the Rangers for a great deal of money. In fact, at that time, it was the richest baseball contract in history. He signed a $252 million deal for a period of 10 years. This signing also caused a lot of controversy and discussion about whether this was too much money to spend on one player. Critics believed that the money should have been spread out to bring in a number of talented players and not put so much focus on one player. It was believed that the team had a lot of additional needs and Rodriguez, just simply wouldn't be able to fix them all on his own. Rodriguez went on to play very well, but the team continued to do poorly.
2003 marked the fourth year in a row that the team finished in last place and Rodriguez was dealt away for Alfonso Soriano and Joaquin Aries of the New York Yankees. The next year, surprisingly, the Rangers saw more success than they have in a long time. They were in the hunt for first place in their league all the way until end of the season. The ended up finishing in third place but they were only three games behind their league’s champion.
In 2007, the team saw the name of its’ ballpark changed from Ameriquest Mortgage Company to Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Ameriquest initially got to name, the stadium out when they signed a three-year 75 million contract for naming rights. The Rangers terminated the deal and as a result will end up losing about $2.5 million dollars for every year that the contract was terminated. The termination of the contract was made so that the Rangers were able to reclaim the name of their ballpark.
