Toronto Blue Jays Tickets
The Toronto Blue Jays are a baseball team that play out of Toronto, Ontario Canada. They are a part of Major League baseball's American League and are in the Eastern division. The club was established in 1977 as an expansion franchise.
The Blue Jays are the first team to be based outside of the United States to bring home a World Series championship. In facts, the Blue Jays are the only team based outside of the United States since the Montréal Expos moved -
to Washington DC. The Blue Jays joined in the league in 1976, the same year as the Seattle Mariner's did.
The team was initially owned by Labatt Breweries as well as the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. The teams nickname, the Blue Jays was chosen through a contest by the public. The owners went with the Blue Jays primarily because their brewery’s primary brand of beer was called Blue.
The team went on to win two World Series championships back-to-back, one in 1992, the other in 1993. The team’s model is “It's Always Game Time.” The team colors are black, silver, white, blue and graphite. In 2007, the teams finished just abover .500 with 83 wins and 79 losses, ending up third in their division. One highlight from that year was Frank Thomas hitting three home runs in a game against the Boston Red Sox. Aaron Hill also set a record for the club for earning the most doubles by a second baseman. Frank Thomas also became the 21st player to hit 500 home runs for his career.
The Blue Jays don’t have any players in the Hall of Fame that played a substantial amount of time with the team. However, there are some player in the Hall of Fame that have played for the Blue Jays. They include, Phil Niekro who was a pitcher in 1987, Paul Molitor who was a designated hitter in 1993-1995 and Dave Winfield played outfield and as a designated hitter in 1992.
