Buy Blue Man Group Tickets The Blue Man Group consists of three gentlemen. They include Matt Goldman, Phil Stanton and Chris Wink. Throughout The Blue Man Group’s performance, they don't talk. They are painted in grease paint, which is blue, hence the name, Blue Man Group, and also wear bald caps and black clothes. The group’s act has become very popular and began in 1988.
The Blue Man Group’s shows have been enjoyed by many families and are viewed as -
funny, entertaining and very energetic. It can be a bit messy for the audience however. All individuals who have the courage to sit in the first couple of rows, are given ponchos, so that they don't get food, paint and other things which are thrown from the stage on their clothes.
The group started performing when the men worked together at Glorious Foods, as caterers in New York. They would often roam the streets of New York, with their blue paint and bald heads and would perform for people walking down the street. They even began creating their own plays, one which was titled, The Funeral for the Eighties in clubs and theaters around New York. Later, Meryl Vladimer would see the group, and suggest that they make their act into a full-length production. They took his advice and did so. Their full length production received a lot of praise and they begin to generate a following. In fact, they would do so well, that they were awarded an Obie Award and Lucille Lortell Award. Shorty thereafter, the men began an off-Broadway production of their act.
There are several main themes that can be seen in any Blue Man Group performance. They include the use of technology and science, information, pollution and self-consciousness. The group has performed all over the United States and around the world, including stops at Chicago, New York, Las Vegas, Boston, Oberhausen, Berlin, Stuggart, Orlando and Tokyo.
