Pre-Broadway tryouts took place in San Francisco, California in the beginning of 2007. Broadway previews were in April of that year. Reviews for the previews were positive for the most part. After the show hit Broadway, it quickly grossed $1 million, and was nominated for seven Tony awards. The production did not take any of the prized statues home.
